So, sometimes there are crossovers. American comic people (once in a while) like manga. Gasp! Anyway, here is one of those nice moments from Comic Attack, the review of Breathe Deeply.
“Despite disagreeing with the direction the authors took this book, there is no denying that it was a powerful read.”

This is a nice slightly lengthy but very insightful review we received a little while ago on Schoolgirl.
“to read this translation is to experience this girl's thoughts and observations with a clarity that tugs effectively at the reader's empathy.”

Minneapolis' newspaper the Star Tribune shows us some love with a great review for Schoolgirl!
“For a 30-year-old man to write about a young girl is not unusual, but for this same man to write with such piercing insight into the tumultuous mind of a female adolescent is nothing less than unforgettable.”

Schoolgirl in print! Well, that is to say, a review in print. Of course it is already in print thanks to One Peace Books reviving it! But others are taking notice. Of course there was the USA Today announcement. But here is one in print in the Sacramento Book Review! Flip back few pages and you'll see it under “Modern Literature.”

We received a very nice review for Schoolgirl from Kathryn Hemmann, a graduate student in East Asian Languages. She says she'll be assigning Schoolgirl in the classroom. Wonderful. We are so pleased. Thank you Kathryn!
“Despite its relative brevity, Schoolgirl is fascinating and can be approached from a variety of angles by a wide range of readers. I can't think of a single person to whom I wouldn't recommend this novella.”

Richard Gere made a little appearance at our sold out event last night at the Rubin Museum of Art. Rima Fujita gave a signing and talk. People were lined up to receive signatures from the artist. There were interesting talks by Tibeten activists, music, and activities for the kids. It was great event. You better act fast to get your copy of Save the Himalayas, now available on Amazon, before we run out!
The Rubin Museum at 150 w. 17th street, NYC on Nov. 16th at 6:00 pm, will host an event for Save the Himalayas, One Peace Books' new publication. The author will give a reading and scavenger hunt for the kids. And for the adults, there will be a discussion between a select group of prominent guest speakers, including the Dalai Lama's main representative, Lobsang Nyandak. Yogo guru Sharon Gannon will also be there. So don't miss out. The guest speakers will soon be announced, check back in soon to see who all will be at the event.
Hope to see you all there!
